Mr Merlino said the stadium’s blockbuster International opening between rugby league powerhouses Australia and New Zealand on Friday, 7 May will be on sale from 9am.

“What a great way to open our amazing new stadium – with a clash between traditional rivals and the two best rugby league nations in the world.
“It’s a great chance for Victorian sports fans to support our national team and be part of a magnificent event to celebrate the opening of Melbourne’s newest piece of world-class sporting infrastructure.”
Mr Merlino said tickets for the International Test match between Australia and New Zealand would be affordable for families at from $30 for adults and from $20 for children, pensioners and concession holders.
“There’s no question that a rectangular pitch has been the missing link in our world-famous network of sporting infrastructure in this city,” Mr Merlino said.
“The new stadium delivers an important new sport and entertainment facility, helping to bolster Melbourne’s reputation as the sports and cultural capital of Australia.”
Mr Merlino said the $267.5 million stadium will have a capacity of more than 30,000 and promises to be one of the world’s best venues to watch rectangular codes.
It will also feature a sports campus with medical facilities and administration offices.
