Major Projects Victoria is currently completing a preliminary business case for the redevelopment of Flinders Street Station.
In November 2011, the Victorian Government launched a $1 million international design competition to rejuvenate and restore Melbourne’s iconic Flinders Street Station.
The Flinders Street Station Design Competition sought the best ideas from around the world to re-energise the station and its surrounds, while maintaining its beloved heritage features.
On Thursday 8 August 2013, the Competition Winner and the People’s Choice Award were announced by the Premier of Victoria, Dr Denis Napthine MP and the Minister for Major Projects, the Honourable Mr David Hodgett MP.
Competition Winner: HASSELL + Herzog & De Meuron.
People’s Choice Award: Eduardo Velasquez, Manuel Pineda and Santiago Medina.
The People’s Choice Award provided the public with an opportunity to give feedback on the six shortlisted designs via a voting website during a two week period from Tuesday 23 July to Monday 5 August 2013.
