The Austin Hospital project is the largest hospital redevelopment to be undertaken in Victoria, delivering leading healthcare to Victorians.
The Austin Hospital upgrades included:
- a new emergency department
- intensive care and critical care units
- expanded theatres
- a new clinical block
- expansion of clinical support services
- improvements to patient and visitor access areas
- a new car park with direct lift access to patient services.
The repatriation site saw upgrades to outpatient facilities and sub-acute Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) services. The teaching, training, and research precinct received improvements to meet occupational health and safety standards, along with a new research block.
The project has cemented Austin Health’s reputation as one of Australia’s leading teaching, training and research centres, with some of the best facilities in the country.
Major Projects Victoria led the delivery phase of the project on behalf of the State. Davis Langdon Australia, in association with Padgham and Partners (DLP), was appointed to the Austin Hospital project to provide cost planning and management services for all phases of the redevelopment.
