About

The Victorian Government has committed to a $1 million prize pool for an international design competition to help rejuvenate and restore Melbourne's iconic Flinders Street Station.

The Government will be looking for the best ideas from around the world to re-energise the station and its surrounds while making sure integral heritage features are maintained.

Designs will be expected to address the station’s transport function, heritage requirements, urban design and integration with its surrounds as well as providing a value for money  proposal.

The competition will be conducted in accordance with the Australian Institute of Architects competition guidelines and international best practice.

Work is currently under way to consult with key stakeholders and write a detailed project brief for competition entrants.

Anne Dalton & Associates has been appointed as the Probity Advisor for the competition. The Probity Advisor has a key role advising the project team in relation to integrity of decision making and will work closely with the Competition Advisor when appointed.

Further announcements on the competition will be made in due course via MPV's Twitter and Facebook page.
